ABOUT

EARLY WORKS

I am interested in the role as intermediary of humans in the interaction between culture and nature. It is amazing to think us as the link that binds two such dissimilar phenomena. Nature, on one hand, with its slow but sure evolutionary time. And culture, on the other hand, with its frenetic time of increasingly rapid changes upon reality.

I usually work with three types of elements:
-Animals that represent the natural stability of the bodies.
-Futuristic technology that symbolize the speed of human action in their own circumstances.
-And humans, who always seem to be in motion and broken by the different times that they go through.

The pieces are not intended to be optimistic or pessimistic about the future. They intend to show the complexity of the times that lie ahead. They try to warn us about human creativity, because it is gaining such speed that it may provoke the risk of getting out of control and exceed (even if it is our own creation) the capacities of human reflection.

LAP TORTOISE

A man is dragged towards a hole. To the unknown. And nature seems to slow him down. But too late. Our creation and our desire is now unstoppable. The future comes, and sometimes in spite of humanity.

20 GOLDEN APPLES

In between us and the All Time High, the bears.

NESTINGS DOG

We laugh at time because we have the solution: incessant reproduction, the fidelity of a family dog, the home that we never leave. They are looking at us. It is known: The World also needs witnesses.

BIRTHPLACE

Everything evolves. From fishes to dogs. From snakes to people. Death to new beginnings. Even a Botticelli can give birth to a Terminator.

As nature comes from time, art is the birthplace of culture.

HE THINKS IN THE TUB

He thinks in the tub. A part of him seems to look at the old world with nostalgia, like recalling simpler times. But the other is resigned. Confident, but resigned. Deep down he knows that the future he helped to forge is probably for the best, and that the best choices to make are no longer in his hands.

NOT HUMANS, BUT LIFE

Now is present, as it is past and as it is future. From different times you can see it all, and still you can find hope. It doesn't matter who fades away and who thrives. We are invincible. Not humans, but life.

FOUR O FROG

Mistakes are paid both in nature and culture. Species with a long past may have no future. The future, on the other hand, may have no species. Nothing is more certain than failure: a dead end or an explosion. Success is the unknown. It is twisted: even good luck can bring us bad fortune.

PRODUCERS OF THE FUTURE

We are brave, because the odds are no longer in our favor. Technology leads us the way. We don't have enough hands to grab the machete. But, nevertheless, we do it and just say: maybe we are the past, but we are also the proud producers of the future.

NATURE IS THE LIMIT

We can search how to fly, but that won't give us wings. You can try to leash nature, or even hurt her, but you won't never kill her.

Our four legs are glued to Earth: we are not what we produce.

Culture is faster, unpredictable, culture is movement... but nature is the limit.

It's ironic: we have the ability to change the world, but even if we try, we cannot change ourselves.

PORTAL FOX

Slow and steady evolutionary nature can protect us from the dizzyling changes of modern times. Our culture is not an innocent cup of coffee anymore. In the future, we will need ourselves to save us from ourselves.

A HOLE FOR EACH BIRD

It doesn't matter how high you can fly, a hole is always beneath you. It doesn't matter how relaxed you can look, screens are always distortioned. Be patient. Be afraid. Have fun. Make your fate happen as it if were truly yours.

NOT INTENDED FIGHT

Birth is the separation of two units. Absorption is its contrary, the union of two entities. Time equals birth with absorption as distance equals up and down, right or left.

Nature gives us the anchor, the steady rock, but we are being pulled by culture, by technology. We resist in the middle. We are victims and perpetrators of a not intended fight.

NOT ALONE

We are not alone, but we feel alone. We nest faith because we can't bear the silence. We make art from our tortured heart.

We are made by little pieces, even smaller than a bat or a mouse. We are connected by branches, or is it cables now?

We are a collective unconscious. A mosaic of people that, centuries before, also felt like if they were alone.
