We look at reality through different screens. We go from cellphones to our laptops, because of work; to the television or Nintendos, when we need to rest. And then, of course, to our cellphones again.
We even have the concept of “augmented reality” and we use it to describe the act of interrupting reality. Or worse, the act of diminishing reality.
And I am not saying that technology is a bad thing. Not at all. Technology is, in fact, our shared culture, our shared actions, the creations that make humans what they are.
But if we don't get back to our roots every once in a while, if we don't get back to nature, things tend to get ugly really fast. We get depressed. We start feeling the weight of a rock in the middle of our soul.
That's why I thought about this concept. Augment reality is an attempt to raise awareness about the excessive use of technology.
Depression, anxiety, and burnouts are today's most common symptoms of our society's disease. And we unconsciously forget that the remedy is kind of simple: visit a friend, go for a walk, breathe a mountain, create or admire art, swim the ocean, hug your mother or sing a song.
Focus on yourself and your surroundings and just… Augment reality.
